Working around Facebook’s new News Feed avalanche

As you Facebook users know, the folks in the conference room updated the profile pages and news feed settings once again. The first time this happened, I didn’t like it. Then, I realized that last October, Facebook had over 250 million unique visitors, and that it’s probably not going to respond to my witty email comparing the new Facebook to Coke II. So after some online research to find-out how to permanently rid my Facebook wall of the small “stories” that I personally find annoying (i.e. “Sandy Liked John’s Status”), I came across this quick video tutorial explaining how to, basically, uncheck some hidden boxes and make the noise go away. Sweet. Big ups to the folks at Gangway Advertising, who I don’t know, but shall hereby plug and say thank you for taking the time to save us the aggregate hassle of manually removing Likes and RSVP’s. All told, those micro seconds blend into centuries of accumulated battery power that could be spent elsewhere. Like, say, actually liking more statuses. But seriously, take ‘em down. No need.

Hey Sandy! Thank you so much for the shout out! I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. They are constantly adding new features or applications or creating a page redesign. You just never know what’s coming. At the same time, you have to give them credit for trying to evolve the site as it becomes a global phenomenon and continues to take over the world as the largest social network on the planet. I’m glad my video provided you some useful information. That’s why I do them!
