Cool Thing We Found: Tempest Milky Way

In the spirit of the amazing space photography we shared with you last week, here’s another visually impressive feat of image capture. Photographer and videographer Randy Halverson is a native of central South Dakota, about as Great Plains-y as you can get in the Great Plains States. Over the course of this past summer, he shot and edited Tempest Milky Way, a time-lapse video of the sky above the Dakotas, which will not only take your breath away but also give you an understanding of how much a city’s light pollution can cost you.

Special thanks to our friend Stephen Schmidt for linking to this video. (So this isn’t technically a “Cool Thing We Found” so much as a “Cool Thing We Were Directed To See.”)
